Meet Shannon
In 2010, I was a mom to a two-year-old boy and pregnant with my second son. That summer, I lost my corporate job and, to fill the quiet moments during nap time, I started making jewelry. I began participating in local art shows, where my pieces were always well received. Then, in February 2011, I went into premature labor at 24 ½ weeks, and my second son didn't survive. This devastating loss plunged me into a difficult mix of postpartum depression, exhaustion, and anxiety about what the future held.
During this painful time, I found solace in creating beautiful jewelry for friends, family and customers. I also opened an Etsy shop, which allowed me to sell to a wider audience, giving me more much-needed distraction. Over time, I’ve come to see my jewelry business as “the gift of the wound.”
As the years went on, I discovered deep joy in designing and crafting jewelry that not only connected me with countless women but also allowed me to hear their stories, celebrate their triumphs, and offer comfort during their heartbreaks. What began as a journey through my own depression transformed into a passionate pursuit of connection and beauty.
The story does have a happy ending, in July of 2012 we adopted a one year old girl who has filled our hearts since.
